Sanity in the Demonologist game is basically a sort of a health bar of your character and an indicator of how well he or she is doing. And today, I am here to share a complete guide to how sanity works in the Demonologist, but also how to increase it easily.

Your character’s sanity level can go up or down, influenced by various factors in the game. You should always keep your sanity levels as high as possible in order to increase your chances of survival.

What happens if you Sanity in Demonologist is too low?

The lower your sanity level in the Demonologist game, the higher the chances of you being attacked by a ghost. This is why you want to keep your sanity levels as high as possible, despite the plethora of things that bring it down.

How to see your Sanity level?

In order to see your Sanity level in the Demonologist game, you have to head back to the camp and look at the monitors showing your brain activity. Your sanity (and that of other players if playing co-op will be shown there).

What decreases Sanity in the Demonologist game?

Well, the simple fact that you are exploring a haunted place should be enough to bring down any person’s sanity. But in this game, there are additional actions and things that can quickly decrease your Sanity levels.

Here is a list of things that decrease your sanity in Demonologist:

  • The Flame of Fate decreases sanity (it can also increase it – depending on the color of the flame)
  • The moon quickly decreases your sanity level (when using the cards)
  • The difficulty level also increases sanity drain (it’s higher on Hard)
  • Using specific tools drains sanity faster (watching the ESG or Canvas, for example)
  • Spending too much time in the dark
  • Encountering spirits (the jump-scares)

There are probably additional things that decrease your character’s sanity in the game. I will make sure to update the list as I find more.

If you managed to find extra things that bring it down, don’t hesitate to share your findings in the comments section below.

How to increase Sanity in the Demonologist game?

Fortunately, the sanity levels of your character can be increased in various ways when playing the game. Here are some ways to restore sanity in the Demonologist:

  • Buy & use pills from the shop (pretty expensive, though)
  • Have a crucifix equipped. If your sanity drops and the spirit starts hunting you, if you have a crucifix, you will be resurrected if it catches you.
  • Turn on the lights in the areas you are visiting and always stay in the light
  • If no lights are available, use candles
  • Spend more time in your camp site. From there, you can use items like the tripod camera to investigate. However, not all items will work like this and using some from the camp site (like the ESG will keep draining sanity)
  • Get the Sun card from the deck. It’s completely random, but if you get it, your sanity is restored to 100%

And while it won’t bring up your sanity level, finding the key to open Maria’s room in the game is a challenge that you probably want to complete. Make sure to read the article on how to do it when you’re done reading this one.

Conclusion

Sanity is an important element in the Demonologist game, because it directly influences your chances of survival. The lower your sanity, the higher the chances of a hunt starting and of your character being killed.

Therefore, always keep an eye on your sanity levels and take action to restore it when it’s too low.
