Pop sensation Justin Bieber has been united with the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir.
Their meet-up came courtesy of The Official Charts Company, and saw Bieber meeting the choir for the first time since their Christmas Number 1 chart battle.
The NHS Choir won the race after Justin kindly tweeted to his millions of fans to stop buying his single and to download the charity track instead. Writing: “so for 1 week it’s ok not to be #1. Let’s do the right thing & help them win. It’s Christmas. @Choir_NHS good luck http://www.nhsno1.com/download” (sic).
During their meeting held at a London hotel, the charity group and the ‘Sorry’ hitmaker handed each other their respective chart awards.
Justin presented the forty members of the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir with their official chart number 1 award for their song ‘A Bridge Over You’, while the choristers happily presented Bieber with his awards for his haul of UK chart-toppers, for his singles ‘What Do You Mean’, ‘Sorry’ and ‘Love Yourself’.
Speaking to the Official Charts Company about meeting the choir, Justin Bieber said:“I was honoured to meet everyone from the choir and I’m really happy that they got their #1.”
Speaking about meeting the Canadian hearthrob, Junior doctor and choir spokesperson, Katie Rogerson said: “We are all delighted to meet Justin Bieber today, and congratulate him on his tremendous achievements. It was wonderful that Justin supported the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS choir. “By doing this, he not only recognised our mental health charities (MIND, SAMH and NIAMH) and Carers UK, but also acknowledged every single member of our hardworking NHS team across the UK. On a personal note… it gives me a bit of street cred with my paediatric patients as Dr Katie! I’m now a Belieber in every sense of the word!”
Justin Bieber was also given the first ever Official Chart Record Breaker Award to celebrate his incredible chart feat of becoming the first artist in UK chart history to hold the positions 1, 2 and 3 simultaneously on The Official Singles Chart back in January.
